Sammy Gallo’s racing career began on tracks at Merchant’s Park in Denver, Greeley Speedway, and Englewood Speedway, where he became an early track champion. He helped track owner Ben Krasner form the racing program at Lakeside Speedway, where he scored another track championship before going on to become an instrumental figure in the organization and promotion of the Colorado Auto Racing Club. He served as the club’s first Safety officer, as well as a multi-term president. Years after his passing, he is revered as one of the most popular sportsmen and racing figures in Denver racing history.
